The national surveys are now closed. This page contains archived information for people who did the survey.
There is a long survey and a short survey. You can choose which one you do, but please only do one of them.
Who can do the surveys?
You can do either survey if you:
- Are 15 – 29 years old,
- Live in Australia, and
- Identify as a person with disability or a person who looks after (or cares for) another person, such as an elderly family member or a friend with disability.
Participation is voluntary
If you do not want to do the survey, you do not have to. You can skip any question. If you start the survey and change your mind, you can stop doing the survey at any time.
Have a think before you start the survey because you can’t withdraw your answers once you start it. This means that even if you quit the survey halfway through, you cannot withdraw the answers you provided up until that point.
What are the surveys about?
The surveys ask questions about what you think good listening looks like and how you think people can listen to you better. They also ask some questions about you including your age and gender.
Which survey should I do?
The long survey will take you about 20 – 40 minutes to complete. The questions are more complex in this survey. You can skip any questions you don’t want to answer, and choose how much detail you provide in your answers. The amount of detail you give will influence how long the survey takes.
The short survey will take you about 10 – 20 minutes to complete. This survey only has one question about listening, which you can answer with a drawing, audio recording, video recording, written response, or any other response you can upload!
When does the survey close?
The last day that you can do the survey is Friday June 20th, 2025.
Can I see the survey questions beforehand?
Yes.
You can read the long survey questions online, or by downloading the word document called ‘long survey questions’.
You can read the short survey questions online, or by downloading the word document called ‘short survey questions’.
Where can I find more information?
For more information about the surveys, including accessibility, how your information will be used and stored, and who you can complain to if you don’t like something about the survey, you can download the participant information sheets.
There is a plain English information sheet and an easy English information sheet. A lot of this information is also provided at the start of each survey.
